The Team, Supporters & The Future

The Team

Directors

We Are Aware has a board of 4 directors.
Becci, Sally, Alan & Rachael.  From a range of backgrounds, the directors have a great deal of experience in mental health- through work, volunteering and lived experiences

Volunteers

Besides the 4 directors We Are Aware has a small, but growing group of volunteers supporting the work of the board and just as involved!
This is a team project and all help is valued

Before retiring I worked as a manager in a customer services sector of a local authority,.

I have had a number of voluntary posts supporting people in challenging circumstances. I volunteered at 1in4 people, and that led to me becoming involved with Aware.

I like to balance my social relationships with time for myself to swim, read and work on craft projects

Safeguarding Lead & Core team Member

I am passionate about mental health and wellbeing- and particularly taking a holistic approach remembering that we don't all fit inside the same box and care should be tailored to each of us in our own unique ways.

I have been working in mental health for 14 years as a Health care assistant and I'm soon to finish my nursing degree as a mental health nurse.

In my spare time i enjoy walking in nature, hiking mountains and taking pictures of nature along the way.

Walk&Talk Leader and Core team Member

My working life was 50 years of software development in various forms. Unsurprisingly, 50 years ago software development was VERY different to software development today. After those years of seeing software being developed I thought I ought to try to make a positive contribution to people’s lives – and so became a Walk & Talk volunteer as I can walk and I can certainly talk.
